ST. LOUIS – Drivers heading from St. Louis into Illinois at night may want to avoid using the Poplar Street Bridge across the Mississippi River for the next two weeks, as crews will close a ramp and a lane each weeknight.
Crews will close the ramp from eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 to the northbound I-55/eastbound I-64 bridge (the Poplar Street Bridge) across the Mississippi River each weeknight at 8 p.m, starting Monday, July 16. In addition, they will close the left lane across the eastbound bridge. The ramp and lane will reopen by 5 a.m. the following day. Work is expected to be complete by Friday, July 30 at 5 a.m.
The closures will allow crews to continue work to add a fifth lane on the eastbound bridge between 6th Street and Illinois Route 3.
