Railroad to Close U.S. Route 54/Missouri Route 19 in Laddonia for Repairs

HANNIBAL – The Kansas City Southern Railroad will close the U.S. Route 54/Missouri Route 19 crossing located within the city limits of Laddonia on the evening of Friday, July 27 through the morning of Monday, July 30th so the railroad can make repairs to the tracks.   The closure is expected to begin around 8 p.m. on Friday and conclude by Monday at 8 a.m.

The railroad is working with the Missouri Department of Transportation to set up a detour around the work.  “While local traffic will know how to avoid the area, a marked detour will be established to reroute other traffic onto Route J and Route B,” explained MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner, P.E. “Commercial traffic will be rerouted over other U.S. Routes to avoid the area.”

The result of the work will be a smoother crossing. Following completion of the railroad’s work, the Missouri Department of Transportation will restore the speed limit in Laddonia to 35 mph.  It was reduced to 20 mph last year because of the rough condition of the crossing.
