FULTON – The first stage of a resurfacing, sidewalk and pedestrian improvement project on Business Route 54 in Fulton is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 16.
The $3.7 million project is a partnership between the Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Fulton. The project includes resurfacing of Business Route 54 from Callaway County Route H to U.S. Route 54 on the north side of Fulton, as well as sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) pedestrian upgrades along Business Route 54. The improvement work also includes resurfacing Silver Drive (Route 54 West Outer Road).
The first stage of the project starts on Monday, July 16 and will include sidewalk improvement and ADA upgrade work. Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures on Business Route 54 during daytime hours as work progresses. This work is expected to be completed by December.
The second stage of the project is scheduled to begin in October and includes night resurfacing of Business Route 54. Once work begins in October, resurfacing is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day. During the resurfacing work, one lane of Business Route 54 will be open at all times and crews will flag motorists through the work areas. Silver Drive will also be resurfaced during this stage of work.
Aplex, Inc. of Linn is the prime contractor for this project.
