MACON – Weather permitting, Monday, July 23rd, Missouri Route 19 will undergo pavement repairs in Montgomery County at the north and south ends of the bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad, located 0.2 miles north of Montgomery County Route WW near New Florence. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during daytime hours through the work zone. There will be a 12 ft. width restriction set in place for the duration of the project.
“The fill on both sides of the bridge has been settling which has resulted in dips in the pavement. This pavement repair project will provide a smoother driving surface for the traveling public,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E. “We will continue to monitor the area, and if further settlement occurs, we will address those areas as needed,” he added.
NB West Contracting Company of Brentwood, Missouri, was awarded the contract for $95,000. They have 20 calendar days to complete the project. Signs will be in place to alert motorists of the upcoming work with flaggers to direct motorists through the work zone. There will be additional signage and flaggers at the intersections of Mitchell Road and Route WW to provide greater traffic control in the work zone
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through this area, and obey all work zone signs and personnel. Remember always buckle up and put your phone down to eliminate distractions.
