Road Work for Mid-Missouri

July 16-27, 2018

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for the two-week period of July 16-27, 2018.  Weather conditions may postpone the work schedule. Many projects will include lane closures that could cause delays.

All Counties
Daylight Hours
Mowing, striping, brush cutting and guardrail repair continue in various locations.  Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow-moving equipment along the road.


Boone County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 124 between Route B and Route CC – Resurfacing and shoulder improvements are nearing completion. Striping operations will take place the week of July 16.

Route B between Business Loop 70 and Brown Station Road – Roadway resurfacing and sidewalk improvements are nearing completion. Pavement repair between Route 63 and Brown Station Road will take place the week of July 16. Occasional lane closures can be expected through the work area. The project is scheduled to be completed in late September.

Overnight Hours
Interstate 70 between mile marker 126.4 and 127.4 – Pavement repair in the westbound lane will take place on Sunday, July 15. One westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 40 between Route UU and Route 5 in Howard County – Resurfacing and shoulder improvements continue.
       * Contractors continue paving the three-foot shoulders along the roadway. Roadway resurfacing will begin at the Route 5 intersection the week of July 16. One lane will be open, and a pilot car will guide traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled to be completed in October.

Daylight Hours
Route 63 between Route 22 and Route EE in Randolph County – Roadway resurfacing in the northbound lanes will begin on Monday, July 16. One northbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.

Route J between Route 40 and Route 124 – Roadway paving will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route V between Thomas Hill Road and Winn Road – Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Monday, July 16. The road will be closed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.


Callaway County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 54 Bridge Improvements
Here is a look at traffic impacts currently in place near the U.S. Route 54 bridge improvement project:
       * Guard cable installation on the eastbound and westbound Route 54 from Holts Summit to Route HH in Fulton
       * Bridge rehabilitation work on the eastbound Route 54 bridge over Stinson Creek. One eastbound lane of Route 54 will be closed through the work area.
These traffic impacts are scheduled until the end of July.

Daylight Hours
Route A between Interstate 70 and Route B – Pavement patching will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route B between Route 54 and the Montgomery County line – Roadway resurfacing continues. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in October.

Route D between Route 94 and Route O – Pavement patching will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route E between Route DD and Old Route 54 – Roadway resurfacing continues. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in October.

Business 54 through Fulton – Sidewalk improvement work will begin on Monday, July 16. The first stage of the project starts on Monday, July 16 and will include sidewalk improvement and ADA upgrade work. Motorists can expect to encounter lane closures on Business Route 54 during daytime hours as work progresses. Motorists are advised to use caution through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in December.


Camden County
Daylight Hours
Route 5 between Route 7 and Route 64 in Laclede County – Guardrail installation and replacement and pavement repair continues.
       *Work will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each weekday. During the work, motorists will encounter lane closures along Route 5 between Routes 7 and 64. Contractors will flag traffic through the work zones. During Labor Day weekend, work will be suspended on the project and all lanes will be open. Work will resume on Tuesday, September 4.
       * Paving operations will begin the week of July 16. Occasional lane closures are likely in the work area. The entire project is scheduled for completion in November of 2019.


Cole County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 54 between Broadway Street and Stadium Boulevard – Roadway resurfacing, pavement repair, guard rail replacement and bridge repair continues.
       * The project is in its third stage, which includes rehabilitation of the westbound Route 54 bridges over Stadium Boulevard and Broadway Street and work on the Route 54 on-ramp from the Madison Street bridge.
       *During the work, westbound Route 54 is reduced to one lane 24 hours a day from north of Broadway to south of Stadium.
       * The Route 54 on-ramp from Madison Street is closed during the work.
The work on Westbound Route 54 and Madison Street exit is scheduled for completion in early August.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in November.

Route 50 over Moreau River, west of Route J – Bridge maintenance will take place on Tuesday, July 24. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 17 between Route 54 and Route 52 Miller County – Roadway resurfacing and shoulder widening continues.
       * Concrete replacement will take place just north of the Saline Creek bridge the week of July 16. Curves will be widened on the north and south sides of the bridge as well.
One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.


Route B between Route 54 and Tri County Road – Ditch repair will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route C over North Moreau Creek – Bridge maintenance will take place on Monday, July 23. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route W between Route B and East Bend Road – Ditch repair will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Cooper County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 87 over Interstate 70 – Bridge replacement will begin Monday, July 16.
       *Bridge demolition is scheduled for the weekend of July 27.  The contractor will be out at 7 p.m. on Friday night preparing for demolition of the structure. Starting at 10 p.m. Interstate 70 traffic in both directions will be routed up and over the Route 87 ramps. There will be no access to Interstate 70 from Route 87 during that time. During the closure of mainline Interstate 70, concrete barrier will be installed along the shoulders of Interstate 70 to accommodate construction operations of the new bridge. All lanes of Interstate 70 traffic are scheduled to be re-opened by 5 a.m. on Monday, July 30.

Route 135 between Route JJ and Roe Street – Pavement repair will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 19. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route BB between Route A and Morgan Street – Sidewalk improvements continue. Much of the work will take place off the roadway. Minimal traffic interruptions are expected.


Crawford County
Overnight Hours
Interstate 44 between Route H and Route ZZ – Pavement repair in the eastbound lanes continues. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.

Daylight Hours
Route 8 between Route 19 and Route TT – Roadside maintenance will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 19 between Route O and Route P – Pavement marking will take place Tuesday, July 17 through Thursday, July 19. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 49 between Route V and Route Y in Iron County – Drainage repair will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route E between Route 8 and Cave Road – Drainage repair will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route F between Route 19 and Route EE – Pavement patching will take place Tuesday, July 17 through Thursday, July 19. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route M between Route 8 and Route VV – Culvert pipe replacement in various locations will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Dent County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route F over Dry Fork Creek, South of Route NN – Bridge replacement continues. The road is closed. Motorists should use the signed detour around the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in August.

Route 32 between Route 72 and Route 63 in Texas County – Roadway microsurfacing continues.
       * Striping and surface repair operations are scheduled for the week of July 16. One lane will be open and crews will guide traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall.


Gasconade County

Route 19 between Route 28 and Route 50 – Shoulder addition and asphalt paving continues.
Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place the week of July 16. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.  One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 100 between Route 19 and Route N – Shoulder addition and asphalt paving continues.
Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place the week of July 16. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. Howard County
Overnight Hours
Route 40 between Route 5 and Route UU in Boone County – Resurfacing and shoulder improvements continue.

Route H over Salt Fork Creek, south of County Road 204 – Bridge maintenance will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route T between Route 129 and County Road 261 – Roadway paving will take place Monday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 24. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route U between Route 3 and County Road 251 – Roadway paving will take place Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Laclede County
Overnight Hours
Interstate 44 between Route 133 and Route D in Phelps County – Roadway resurfacing continues.
       * The westbound exit ramp at mile marker 172 will close on Monday, July 16 to begin bridge repair work on the ramp. The ramp will re-open in mid-August. Motorists are advised to use the signed detour routes around the ramp closure.
       * Guardrail repair and replacement will take place in various locations in the eastbound and westbound lanes the week of July 16.
       * Paving operations in the eastbound lanes will continue the week of July 16. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in August, 2019.

Interstate 44 between Elm Street and Route 133 – Pavement repair in the eastbound lanes continues. One eastbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.

Route 5 between Route 64 and Route 7 Camden County – Guardrail installation and replacement and pavement repair continues.
       *Work will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each weekday. During the work, motorists will encounter lane closures along Route 5 between Routes 7 and 64. Contractors will flag traffic through the work zones. During Labor Day weekend, work will be suspended on the project and all lanes will be open. Work will resume on Tuesday, September 4.

Route 32 between Route 5 and Route 17 in Texas County – Roadway resurfacing and shoulder widening continues. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.

Route T between Route 44 and Route JJ – Pavement repair will take place Monday, July 23 through Wednesday, July 25. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route JJ between Route F and Route T – Pavement repair will take place Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route PP between Route C and Route J – Culvert pipe replacement in various locations will take place Monday, July 16 through Thursday, July 26. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Maries County
Daylight Hours
Route 63 over the Gasconade River – Bridge maintenance will take place Wednesday, July 25. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 42 between Route 63 and Route 17 in Miller County – Roadway resurfacing, shoulder addition, and guardrail installation continue.
       * Crews will pave asphalt the week of July 16. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.

Route 42 over the Gasconade River, east of County Road 335 – Scour repair continues. Minimal traffic interruptions are expected. The project is scheduled for completion in August.

Route AA between Route 63 and Route T – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Route DD between Route 133 and County Road 631 – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place on Monday, July 23. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route HH between Route 133 and County Road 621– Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place on Monday, July 23. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route JJ between Route T and County Road 206– Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place on Tuesday, July 24. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Miller County
Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route A over Tavern Creek, east of Route PP – Bridge replacement continues. The road is closed. Motorists are advised to seek alternate route. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-August.

Business Route 54 at Eastview Drive – Drainage repair will take place Monday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 18. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Morgan County
Daylight Hours
Route 135 between Hughes Avenue and Third Street – Roadside maintenance will take place on Tuesday, July 17. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route BB over Middle Richland Creek, south of Self Chapel Road – Bridge replacement continues. The road is closed. Motorists are advised to seek alternate route. The project is scheduled for completion in August.

Route PP over Messer Creek, east of Route D – Bridge replacement continues. The road is closed. Motorists are advised to seek alternate route. The project is scheduled for completion in August.


Phelps County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Interstate 44 between Route D and Route 133 in Laclede County – Roadway resurfacing continues.
       * The westbound exit ramp at mile marker 172 will close on Monday, July 16 to begin bridge repair work on the ramp. The ramp will re-open in mid-August. Motorists are advised to use the signed detour routes around the ramp closure.

Route B over the Bourbeuse River, north of County Road 1400 – Bridge replacement continues. Much of the work will take place off the roadway. Minimal traffic interruptions are expected. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall.

Route D over the Burlington Northern/Sante Fe Railroad, east of Interstate 44 – Bridge replacement continues.  Much of the work will take place off the roadway. Minimal traffic interruptions are expected. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall.


Pulaski County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Interstate 44 between Route 133 in Laclede County and Route D in Phelps County – Roadway resurfacing continues.

Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route AA between Route P and Route AB – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place on Monday, July 16. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route NN between Route 17 and Skagway Road – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life will take place on Tuesday, July 17. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.
