Pavement Sealing Work Scheduled in McDonald &

Lawrence Counties Beginning Week of Aug. 6

McDonald/Lawrence Counties – Two state routes in McDonald County and one in Lawrence County are scheduled to be sealed with a mixture of rock and oil beginning the week of August 6, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Here’s a look at the locations:

  • Early in the week of August 6 – McDonald County Route H between Missouri Route 90 in Noel and U.S. Route 71 (14 miles)
  • Early in the week of August 6 – Missouri Route 76 from Missouri Route 59 in Anderson west to Missouri Route 43 (9 miles)
  • Late in the week of August 6 – Missouri Route 174 from Missouri Route 39 in Mt. Vernon east to I-44 (4 miles)

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule

Drivers can expect one-lane traffic with flaggers and pilot vehicles directing them through the work zone.  Traffic could be stopped for several minutes. Delays are expected. Drivers at side roads should wait for the pilot vehicle before entering the roadway.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed when traveling over recently-sealed sections of highways.

A chip-seal is not an alternative to an asphalt overlay, but is planned for these roads as an economical way to maintain and preserve the roadway. The treatments keep a road from deteriorating and will extend its life.

Project information:

  • Contractor: Blevins Asphalt Construction Co., Mt. Vernon
  • Total cost: $1.6 million
  • Completion date: September 1, 2018
