UPDATED: Planned Closures for I-435 This Week for Paving and Bridge Operations

KANSAS CITY – Crews have several lane closures planned for this week on I-435 from Grandview Road to Holmes Road at various times. Closures will include:

  • The outside lane of westbound I-435 will be CLOSED from Grandview Road to Holmes Road nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The contractor will be working on the pavement behind the barrier wall. 
  • RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER: The outside lane of westbound I-435 will be CLOSED from Grandview Road to Holmes Road from 10 a.m.  Tuesday, Aug. 14 Wed. Aug. 15 until 5 a.m. the following morning. The contractor will be pouring concrete pavement behind the barrier wall. 
  • REMINDER: Wornall Road will be closed at I-435 OVERNIGHT for partial bridge demolition beginning at 8 p.m. on Aug. 15 until the following morning at 5 a.m.  The ramps will remain open
  • The inside lane of eastbound I-435 will be CLOSED from Holmes Road to Grandview Road from on Aug. 15 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. The contractor will be working on the median grates.
  • The outside two lanes of eastbound I-435 will be CLOSED from State Line Road to Wornall Road from 8 p.m. on Aug. 17 until 6 a.m. the following morning.  The contractor will be paving behind the barrier wall.

This work is part of the I-435 South Loop Link project that will replaces the bridges at Wornall and Holmes, rehabilitates the bridges at 104th Street and the Blue River, and upgrades the pavement on I-435 which includes adding another lane. The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work. And remember, every work zone is a NO PHONE ZONE.
