August 21 Phone-in Public Meeting Planned for

McDonald County Bridge Projects

McDonald County – A phone-in public meeting is planned for August 21 where area residents can phone in and ask questions about plans to replace and rehabilitate two bridges in McDonald County, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

MoDOT project experts will be available from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, by calling (417) 621-6310.

Those unable to call in during that time can visit www.modot.org/southwest and view information about the projects.  They also can make comments or submit questions via e-mail by clicking on the “Give us your comments on this project” link at the bottom of the web page.

Project Details

  • Route KK bridge over Pine Creek at Missouri Route 90
    • Replaced with a new six foot wider and three foot longer bridge
    • Guardrail will be upgraded
    • Current bridge built in 1962
    • Approximately 274 vehicles use the bridge per day
    • Estimated total project cost: $830,000
  • Route U bridge over Star Hollow Creek five miles south of Missouri Route 76
    • Bridge deck (driving surface) will be replaced with a new surface and widened by two feet
    • Guardrail will be upgraded
    • Current bridge built in 1960
    • Approximately 180 vehicles use the bridge per day
    • Estimated total project cost: $497,000

Drivers will need to find alternate routes during the work. No signed detours are planned. Drivers will be able to access entrances at either end of the work zone, but will not be able to drive through it.
