New Interchange and Jerry Dyer Memorial Bridge to Open Thursday in Warrenton

HANNIBAL – The new Interstate 70 interchange and Jerry Dyer Memorial Bridge in Warrenton is expected to open sometime Thursday late afternoon, August 30. While some of the project features have been opened previously including the east roundabout, the south outer road and portions of the south roundabout, the remainder of the interchange is now ready for traffic.

The cost of the project is just over $8.5 million and fully funded by two 1/2 cent sales taxes passed by the residents of the city of Warrenton. In exchange for adding to Missouri’s transportation system, the City has agreed to assume responsibility of ownership and maintenance of Route MM to Main Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway from Denny’s to the new interchange.

The landscaping portion of the project will be completed later this fall when conditions are more favorable for transplanting.  At that time, dramatic changes will be seen taking place in each of the roundabouts and in the areas between the roundabouts near the overpass.

The project, awarded to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., includes three roundabouts; two of which are located at each end of the overpass to connect the outer roads and one at the east end of the project on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway.  Additionally, the new Jerry Dyer Memorial Bridge across I-70 now provides a connection between the north and south outer roads, as well as a pedestrian walkway and access ramps to and from I-70. “This project will provide increased access to an expanding municipality,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Engineer, Erik Maninga. “We are happy to coordinate with the City of Warrenton as they celebrate progress in their community with this major project” he added.
