Route D in Phelps County to Close for Bridge Replacement Work

PHELPS COUNTY – Replacement work on the Phelps County Route D bridge over the Burlington Northern/Sante Fe Railroad is entering its final stages. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 13 Route D will be closed at the bridge site to tie in Route D to the new bridge. The road will be closed for 25 days while the work is completed.

Motorists are advised to use the following detour routes around the work zone:

  • Route D travelers who want to access Route D south of the closure: Route D to Route 28 southbound to Interstate 44 eastbound back to Route D
  • Route D motorists who want to access I-44: Route D to Route 28 south to I-44
  • I-44 travelers who want to access Jerome via Route D: continue on I-44 to Route 28 to Route D

Message boards have been installed in the area to inform motorists of the closure. MoDOT appreciates the patience of travelers during the work.
