Route 65 Widening Project Springfield to Ozark

To Start In Mid-September

Evans Road bridge rehab project and work to widen and rehab southbound Route 65 bridge over Farmer’s Branch slated to begin later

Greene and Christian Counties – A project to widen Route 65 to six lanes – three lanes in each direction – between Evans Road in Springfield and Christian County Route CC/J in Ozark is scheduled to start the week of September 17, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Crews will begin installing work zones signs and other items in preparation for the widening work late in the week of September 10.

The week of September 17 crews will start installing storm drains and grading areas in the median of Route 65 starting in areas south of Evans Road and working their way south toward the Route CC/J interchange in Ozark.

The project also will widen and rehabilitate the southbound Route 65 bridge over Farmer’s Branch south of Evans Road and replace the bridge deck on the Evans Road bridge over Route 65. The bridge work will take place later in the project.

Traffic impacts on Route 65:

  • Nighttime lane closings on Route 65 are possible at times
  • Two lanes will remain open in each direction on Route 65 during daytime hours. However, traffic congestion on Route 65 can be expected.
  • Southbound Route 65 traffic shifts to accommodate bridge work later in project

Project Summary:

  • Widen Route 65 to six lanes — three lanes in each direction — between a point south of Evans Road and Christian County Routes CC/J  to continue the progress to six lane Route 65 south to Ozark
  • Widen and rehabilitate southbound Route 65 bridge over Farmer’s Branch south of Evans Road to accommodate new lanes
  • Rehabilitate Evans Road bridge over Route 65 which starts during spring 2019
  • An exact start date for the bridge work will be announced prior to work starting on the bridges

The prime contractor is Millstone Weber, LLC of St. Charles.

The estimated total project cost is $10.2 million.

The project is scheduled for completion in August 2019.
