Road Work for Mid-Missouri

September 17-28, 2018

The following is a listing of general highway maintenance and construction work in the mid-Missouri area for the two-week period of September 17-28, 2018.  Weather conditions may postpone the work schedule. Many projects will include lane closures that could cause delays.

All Counties
Daylight Hours
Mowing, striping, brush cutting and guardrail repair continues in various locations.  Motorists should travel with care and be alert to slow-moving equipment along the road.


Boone County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 40 between Route UU and Route 5 in Howard County – Resurfacing and shoulder improvements continue.
       * Side road entrance paving, rumble strip installation and shoulder grading will take place the week of September 17. Curb installation will also take place west of the I-70 interchange. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.
The project is scheduled to be completed in October.

Route BB over Interstate 70 – Bridge rehabilitation and ramp repairs continue.  The bridge is closed. Route BB traffic is being detoured by using Routes 179, J and O. Entrance and exit ramps will remain open through much of the project, but may close for resurfacing near the end of the project. The project is scheduled for completion in October.

Route 63 between Route 22 and Route 124 – Pavement milling in the southbound lanes will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One southbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route UU between Route 40 and Route O – Paving will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Callaway County
Daylight Hours
Route J between Route 54 and Route F – Pavement patching will take place Wednesday, September 19 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route WW between Route J and the Boone County line – Pavement patching will take place Tuesday, September 18 and Wednesday, September 19. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Business Route 54 between Route 54 East and Route 54 West – Sidewalk and ADA improvements continue. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in December.


Cole County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 54 between Broadway Street and Stadium Boulevard – Roadway resurfacing, pavement repair, guardrail replacement and bridge repair continues.  
      * Surface sealing, lighting and pavement marking will take place in the eastbound and westbound lanes between Stadium Boulevard and the Missouri River Bridge during the overnight hours. One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be closed with occasional closures of entrance and exit ramps.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in November.


Cooper County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 87 over Interstate 70 – Bridge replacement is underway. The bridge is closed, but all exit and entrance ramps connecting to I-70 remain open. Signed detours are in place.
      * Steven Kole Court is closed to traffic as part of work south of I-70. Motorists will be detoured over a temporary bypass to Klinton Drive.
      * Nancy Potter Road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 for culvert pipe replacement. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route around the work area.
      * The eastbound I-70 entrance and exit ramps and the south portion of Route 87 are scheduled to be closed for approximately two weeks, beginning Sunday night, September 23, as the ramps and roadway are tied into the new bridge.
      * Occasional overnight lane closures and traffic delays are possible on I-70 for construction of the new bridge.
      * Grading operations, base rock installation, resurfacing of Route 87 and the westbound entrance and exit ramps and culvert extension work will continue the week of September 17.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in November.


Crawford County
Daylight Hours
Route 19 between Route O and Route P – Pavement marking will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route M between Route 8 and Route YY – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route T between Route 8 and the end of state maintenance – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route U between Route M and Meramec Farms Road – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route Y between Route V and Route 49 in Iron County – Culvert pipe replacement in various locations will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route DD between Route 19 and Evans Road – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life is scheduled to begin the week of September 17. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. 

Route EE between Route F and Route 28 in Gasconade County – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life is scheduled to begin the week of September 17. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. 

Route FF between the Interstate 44 South Outer Road and Rock Road – Ditch repair will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route MM between Route H and Reiner Road – Shoulder repair will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route WW between Essman Dunn Road and the Interstate 44 North Outer Road in Franklin County – Ditch repair will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Gasconade County
Daylight Hours

Route 19 between Route 28 and Route 50 – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life continues. Pavement marking and guardrail operations are scheduled for the week of September 17. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. 

Route K between Route 50 and Helds Island Road – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 28. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route EE between Route 28 and Route F in Crawford County – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life is scheduled to begin the week of September 17. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. 


Howard County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 40 between Route 5 and Route UU in Boone County – Resurfacing and shoulder improvements continue.

Route V over Doxies Creek, west of County Road 265 – Bridge replacement is underway. The road is closed. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route around the work area. The work is scheduled for completion in December.

Route U between Route 3 and County Road 247 – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route V between Route 3 and Route 5 in Chariton County – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 24 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Laclede County
Daylight/Overnight Hours

Interstate 44 between Route 133 and Route D in Phelps County – Roadway resurfacing continues.
      * Asphalt paving in the eastbound and westbound lanes continues the week of September 17.
One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2019.

Interstate 44 Outer Road over the Gasconade River, west of Route 133 – Bridge replacement continues.  The road is currently closed.
       * Blasting operations will begin on Monday, September 17. The blasting will take place between 1 and 3 p.m. each day. During the blasting, a rolling road block will be in place to guide eastbound and westbound traffic on I-44.
       * Grading and clearing operations will take place the week of September 17. Traffic on I-44 may be slowed during the work. 
The entire project is scheduled for completion in August 2019.

Daylight Hours
Interstate 44 between Elm Street and Route 133 – Pavement repair eastbound and westbound lanes continues.
       * Striping operations will take place the week of September 17. One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in November.


Maries County
Daylight Hours
Route C over Peavine Creek, west of County Road 417 – Bridge maintenance will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route T between Route 42 and Route AA – Culvert pipe replacement in various locations will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Miller County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Route 54 over Little Gravois Creek, west of Route V – Bridge deck rehabilitation in the westbound lanes is underway. One westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Daylight Hours
Route 17 between Route 52 and Route K – Pavement repair will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route H between Route 17 and Marys Home Road – Edge rut repair will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route H between Route 17 and Marys Home Road – Drainage repair will take place Monday, September 24 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Moniteau County
Daylight Hours
Route 87 between Derby Lake Road and Gamble Road – Culvert pipe replacement will take place Tuesday, September 18 and Wednesday, September 19. The road will be closed from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route around the work area.

Route 87 between Route C and McCarty Road – Culvert pipe replacement will take place on Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Morgan County
Daylight Hours
Route 5 over Gravois Creek, north of Route J – Bridge maintenance will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Osage County
Daylight Hours
Route A between Route 50 and Route C – Chip sealing the roadway surface to extend pavement life is scheduled to begin the week of September 17. Motorists should expect to encounter loose gravel on the road surface for several days after the seal coat is complete. At that time, crews will sweep the roadway. Motorists should expect delays and lower their speeds through the area. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. 

Route DD between Route U and County Road 610 – Pavement repair will take place Monday, September 24 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Phelps County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Interstate 44 between Route D and Route 133 in Laclede County – Roadway resurfacing continues.
     * Asphalt paving in the eastbound and westbound lanes continues the week of September 17.
One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2019.

Route B over the Bourbeuse River, north of County Road 1400 – Bridge replacement continues. Much of the work will take place off the roadway. Minimal traffic interruptions are expected. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall.

Route D over the Burlington Northern/Sante Fe Railroad, east of Interstate 44 – Bridge replacement continues.
       * Route D is closed for the construction of tie-ins to the new bridge. The road will be reopened in early October. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall.

Route 68 between Route 8 and the Dent County line – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route JJ between Route 68 and County Road 4110 – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Monday, September 27. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Pulaski County
Daylight/Overnight Hours
Interstate 44 between Route 133 in Laclede County and Route D in Phelps County – Roadway resurfacing continues.
       * Asphalt paving in the eastbound and westbound lanes continues the week of September 17.  One eastbound lane and one westbound lane will be open through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2019.

Route TT between Route AW and Western Road – Roadway milling and resurfacing continues. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in October.

Route AW between Wabash Lane and Route 17 in Texas County – Roadway milling and resurfacing continues. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area. The project is scheduled for completion in October.

Interstate 44 Outer Road between Route 17 and Bobby Dale Drive – Pavement repair will take place Monday, September 17 and Tuesday, September 18. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Interstate 44 Outer Road between Route 17 and the end of state maintenance – Pavement repair will take place Wednesday, September 19 and Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.


Washington County

Route T between Route 185 and Route A – Pavement patching will take place Monday, September 17 through Thursday, September 20. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work area.
