COOPER COUNTY – The replacement of the Missouri Route 87 bridge over Interstate 70 in Cooper County near Boonville will move into its third stage on Sunday, Sept. 23 when Route 87 south of the bridge will be rebuilt to raise both the roadway and eastbound I-70 ramps so they can connect to the new bridge.
Starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, Route 87 north of Klinton Drive and both eastbound ramps to and from I-70 at Route 87 will be closed for two weeks. Access to Route 87 from Nancy Potter Road will also be closed for two weeks during the work. Access to Steven Kole Court will be maintained during construction.
The westbound ramps to and from I-70 at Route 87 will remain open during the work. Route 87 will remain closed at the bridge site until the project is completed in November.
Motorists should use the following detours during the work:
- Motorists traveling on Route 87 on the south side of the bridge who want to access I-70: Route 87 to Debo Road to Route U to Route B to I-70
- Motorists traveling on Route 87 on the north side of the bridge who want to access I-70 East: Route 87 to Route B to I-70 East
- Drivers traveling on the south side of the Route 87 bridge who want to access Route 87 on the north side of the bridge should use the following detour: Route 87 to Debo Road to Route U to Route B to Route 87
- Motorists traveling on the north side of the Route 87 bridge who want to access the south side of the bridge should use the following detour: Route 87 to Route B to Route U to Debo Road to Route 87
Periodic lane and road closures are also likely on Route 87 and I-70 during future stages of the work. MoDOT will notify motorists of these closures in advance through electronic message boards, press releases, and social media.
All work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unexpected delays.
