Greene County – A project to improve visibility at the Interstate 44/Greene County Routes MM/B interchange west of Springfield will require ramp closings during the early part of October, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Contractor crews will raise the elevation of the two off ramps – both westbound and eastbound – to improve drivers’ ability to see other vehicles when making turns from the ramps onto Routes MM and B.
Here’s a look at the project schedule and the traffic impacts at the ramps:
- Westbound off ramp from I-44 to Route MM/B: The ramp will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting Monday, Oct. 1, until mid-October. The ramp will remain open during daytime hours.
- Eastbound off ramp from I-44 to Route MM/B: The ramp will be closed ‘round the clock starting on Monday, Oct. 1, until mid-October. During the ramp closing, drivers can use the I-44/Missouri Route 360 interchange at Mile Marker 69 to reach Route MM.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
APAC-Central of Fayetteville, Ark. will do the work for a low bid amount of $379,000.
The work is scheduled to be completed by early November.
