CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation has closed one lane of northbound I-435 at Route 210, which is inside an active work zone. The closure comes after a tractor trailer hit and heavily damaged guardrail in the work zone and continued on down the roadway. The lane drop will begin just north of the Missouri River and will extend beyond Route 210.
A sub contactor has been notified and is currently en route to the scene to make the necessary repairs. Repairs could take at least two hours and will greatly impact the evening rush hour. Motorist should anticipate lengthy delays and may want to find an alternate route home.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
