St. Louis Work Zones for September 27-October 3

ST LOUIS – Drivers heading into downtown St. Louis or Illinois this weekend should use alternate routes or consider taking Metro as MoDOT will close all lanes of eastbound I-64 between Jefferson Avenue and Illinois Route 3. The closure will allow crews to replace the expansion joint that crosses all lanes of eastbound I-64 over the Mississippi River.

Beginning Friday, September 28, crews will close:

  • The ramp from eastbound I-44/northbound I-55 to eastbound I-64 at 7 p.m. The detour to Illinois/I-64 will be marked.
  • Eastbound I-64 at Jefferson at 8 p.m. The detour will be marked.
  • The ramps from Pine Street and 6th Street to eastbound I-64 at 7 p.m.
  • The ramps from eastbound I-64 to 20th/Chestnut, 14th Street, 11th Street and 6th Street will not be accessible since they are within the closed section of the interstate.

All eastbound ramps and lanes will reopen by Monday, October 1 at 6 a.m.

Starting next week, drivers heading west on I-44 near I-270 may want to consider adjusting their commute times or using alternate routes. MoDOT will close one lane of westbound I-44 between I-270 and Bowles starting on Monday, October 1 at 7 p.m. The around-the-clock lane closure will be in place clock for the next three years as part of the Meramec River Bridge construction project.

Access from Watson Road (Route 366), as well as northbound and southbound I-270, to westbound I-44 will shift to the left, but will not change during this portion of the project. Drivers will also still be able to access the Soccer Park exit from westbound I-44.

For additional work zone information and real-time roadway weather conditions, go to http://traveler.modot.org/map. For real-time traffic, visit www.gatewayguide.com. All work is weather permitting and may be shifted due to inclement weather.
