ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Intersection improvements along U.S. Route 169 (Belt Highway) corridor will help ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The projects, partially funded through the Transportation Alternatives Program with the Missouri Department of Transportation providing the remaining funding help pedestrians in St. Joseph enjoy safer walking for recreation or while frequenting local businesses.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Amino Brothers, Inc. to upgrade the pedestrian crossings at:
- Riverside Road and Pickett Road – COMPLETE
- Belt Highway at Commons Drive (near Menards) – COMPLETE
- Belt Highway at South Walmart – wrap up work continuing through Oct. 1
- Belt Highway and U.S. Route 36 – work will continue through October
- Belt Highway and Faraon – work planned to begin Oct. 1 and continue through the beginning of November
One lane of each direction at these locations may be closed during the projects.Motorists are encouraged to use caution during both these projects, as crews will be working in close proximity to the traveling public. Please, for your own safety and that of the workers present in the work zones, put away all distractions, including phones, slow down, and buckle up.
