DELAYED: Resurfacing project planned for Route 139

NEWTOWN, Mo. – The resurfacing project planned for Route 139 from the from the Iowa state line in Putnam County to Route 6 in Sullivan County will begin today. The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Norris Asphalt Paving to mill and complete surface leveling on Route 139.

Guardrail work began earlier this week while crews planned to begin the milling and paving portion today. The road will be narrowed to one lane with motorists directed through the work zone using flaggers and a pilot car. Work is expected to be completed in early November.

All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
