Ramps Planned to Close at Missouri Route 161/Route J Project in Montgomery County

MACON – Missouri Route 161/Route J in Montgomery County is currently closed for a bridge replacement. The project is at Interstate 70 near Danville. This project has several phases to completion. Beginning Monday, November 5th we will be moving into the phase where there will be a need to close all ramps at Interstate 70/MO 161/Route J. No traffic will be allowed on or off of I-70 at this location. This closure will last approximately 25 calendar days.

“Motorists should understand that this closure is necessary to allow complete reconstruction of the upper portion of each ramp,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E. “The reconstruction will help in bringing improved safety for motorists once the entire project is finished,” he added.

There will be message boards in place notifying motorists of the upcoming closures.

While the ramps are closed, traffic on MO 161/Route J will be detoured to the outer roads to MO 19 (Exit 175) and Montgomery County Route YY (Exit 161).
