All I-44 Lanes OPEN by Tonight Between MM 33 & 38, Nightly Lane Closures Beginning Oct. 26
What: All I-44 lanes OPEN to traffic by tonight, Oct. 25
Where: Between Sarcoxie and Stotts City (Mile Markers 33-38) in Lawrence County
When: Both eastbound lanes opened at 9 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25; westbound lanes expected to open by 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25
Details:
- Traffic no longer shifted in head-to-head configuration on the westbound lanes
- Traffic was shifted beginning the week of Sept. 17 while contractor crews rebuilt concrete in the eastbound lanes of I-44
- Project to rebuild concrete in both directions began week of Aug. 6
Traffic Impacts:
- Beginning Friday, Oct. 26, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., westbound traffic down to one lane for the next two weeks while contractor crews smooth driving surface, add permanent striping and edgeline rumble strips and remove the median crossover lanes
- Speed limit reduced to 60 mph through the work zone
- During backups, I-44 traffic may be diverted using a signed detour
- Drivers are urged to consider alternate routes during the project
- Project completion date: Dec. 15, 2018
