Crews will open the new DDI at Route 210 and I-435

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will open the new DDI (Diverging Diamond Interchange) configuration to traffic Saturday, Oct. 27. An approximate time has not been determined yet. This will be the 9th DDI in the Kansas City area. However, the timing of traffic signals at that location will be undergoing adjustments for the next several days.

In addition, crew will make the following traffic changes as part of an ongoing Route 210 and I-435 Interchange Improvement Project.

Crews will close the ramp from Searcy Creek Parkway to eastbound Route 210 from 4 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 for pavement marking work.

Crews will close the ramp from N. Brighton Ave. to eastbound Route 210 from 4 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 for pavement marking work.

Crews will close the ramp from Chouteau Trafficway to eastbound Route 210 from 4 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 for pavement marking work.

Crews will close eastbound Route 210 at Chouteau Trafficway from 4 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 for pavement marking work.

Crews will close westbound Route 210 at northbound I-435 from 4 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 for pavement marking work.

Crews will close the left turns on ramps from northbound and southbound I-435 to Route 210 from 4 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 for pavement marking work.

As a reminder, crews have shifted southbound I-435and Route 210 traffic to the northbound I-435 lanes in a head-to-head configuration, causing that stretch of roadway to be narrow.

This is all part of a project to build a new diverging diamond interchange for I-435 and Route 210, which includes replacing the old twin bridges over I-435 and Route 210 and widening I-435. All work is weather dependent.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
