Bridge Repair Scheduled for Westbound I-70 Bridge at Manchester Trafficway Beginning Nov. 2

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will have multiple lanes and ramps closed along westbound Interstate 70 in the vicinity of Manchester Trafficway beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, until approximately 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5.

  • This lane closure will reduce westbound I-70 at Manchester Trafficway to one lane on the right side of the interstate.
  • The I-435 ramps to westbound I-70 will be closed.
    • Northbound I-435 trying to go to westbound I-70 will be detoured to MO Route 78 (23rd Street).
    • Southbound I-435 traffic trying to access westbound I-70 will be detoured to U.S. 40.
  • The Manchester Trafficway on ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed.

This work began in September but was delayed while crews waited for a part to be manufactured. Crews will be replacing a segment of the expansion joint as well as a segment of the southern barrier curb. This work will have significant impacts to traffic. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, and find an alternate route if necessary. All work is weather permitting.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
