Daytime Resurfacing to Begin on Business Route 54 in Fulton

FULTON – As part of a project to improve Business Route 54 in Fulton, daytime resurfacing will begin on a portion of Business Route 54 on Thursday, November 15.

The daytime resurfacing will take place each weekday between the morning and afternoon rush hours on Business Route 54 between 12th Street and the roundabout. One lane of Business Route 54 will be open at all times during the work and crews will flag motorists through the work zone. Significant traffic delays are expected in this area during the work. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

Once the daytime resurfacing is completed on the stretch between 12th Street and the roundabout, the contractor will be working on tying in the side streets to Business Route 54. Silver Drive (Route 54 West Outer Road) will also be resurfaced during the daytime. This work is also scheduled to take place between the morning and afternoon rush hours.

Evening resurfacing will continue along Business Route 54 from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. each weekday. One lane of Business Route 54 will be open at all times and crews will flag motorists through the work areas.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in December.

The $3.7 million project is a partnership between the Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Fulton. The work includes resurfacing of Business Route 54 from Callaway County Route H to U.S. Route 54 on the north side of Fulton, as well as sidewalk and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) pedestrian upgrades along Business Route 54.

Aplex, Inc. of Linn is the prime contractor for this project.
