MoDOT to close WB I-44 between Hampton, Shrewsbury this weekend

Only one EB lane open near Shrewsbury

ST. LOUIS – People using I-44 to or from downtown this weekend should consider using I-55 or I-64, using rideshare or carpooling or taking Metro as MoDOT will close westbound I-44 between Hampton and Shrewsbury.

In addition, all but one lane of eastbound I-44 at Shrewsbury will be closed this weekend as well.

Weather permitting, crews will be adjusting barrier wall, restriping and sealing the westbound bridge deck over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.

Beginning Friday, November 16, crews will close:

  • The ramps to or from westbound I-44 at Hampton, Southwest, Arsenal, Jamieson and Shrewsbury will close at 7 p.m.
  • All westbound lanes between Hampton and Shrewsbury will close at 8 p.m.
  • Only one eastbound lane will be open after 8 p.m. east of Shrewsbury.

The ramps and lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, November 19, although the eastbound on-ramp at Shrewsbury will remain closed.

The westbound detour will be to use Hampton, I-64 and I-270 to get to westbound I-44.
