REMINDER: MoDOT to CLOSE Two Lanes of Westbound I-435, Begin Switching Traffic to New Lane

KANSAS CITY – Missouri Department of Transportation is moving into the next phase of the I-435 South Loop Link Project starting this weekend. Beginning Friday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. through early morning on Monday Nov. 19, the right two lanes of westbound I-435 will be CLOSED to finish concrete paving, pavement striping and to move traffic into a new driving configuration. In addition, the westbound Holmes Road entrance ramp will CLOSE Friday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m., and the westbound Wornall Road entrance ramp and westbound State Line road exit ramp will be CLOSE Friday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

ADDED: Crews have added additional ramps that will be CLOSED  beginning Friday Nov. 16 and will include northbound I-49 to westbound I-435 and the ramp from southbound Route 71 to westbound I-435.

 All ramps will open Monday, Nov. 19 by 5 a.m.  

Westbound traffic will begin next week with one lane of new pavement in the outside lane and three inside lanes on current pavement. Crews will resume work between barriers.

 Additional scheduled closures include:

  • Thursday, Nov. 15: Crews will CLOSE the eastbound Holmes Road exit ramp from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Friday, Nov. 16: Crews will CLOSE the right lane of eastbound I-435 over the Blue River from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for steel bridge girder deliveries.

All work is weather dependent.

This work is part of the I-435 South Loop Link project that will replaces the bridges at Wornall and Holmes, rehabilitates the bridges at 104th Street and the Blue River, and upgrades the pavement on I-435 which includes adding another lane. The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work. And remember, every work zone is a NO PHONE ZONE.
