MACON – Missouri Route 161/Route J in Montgomery County is currently closed as construction continues on the new overpass bridge at Interstate 70 near Danville. Over the last couple of weeks the westbound ramps have been closed for reconstructing. Those have now opened, and beginning Monday, November 26th, the eastbound ramps will close for reconstruction.
“We appreciate the patience of the motorists while we close the second set of ramps,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E. “The ramp improvements will help in bringing improved safety for motorists once the entire project is finished,” he added.
There will be message boards in place notifying motorists of the upcoming closure.
While the ramps are closed, traffic on MO 161/Route J will be detoured to the outer roads to MO 19 (Exit 175) and Callaway County Route YY (Exit 161).
