Bridge Update: Crews Have OPENED Pittman Rd. Bridge over I-70 as of Nov. 28

JACKSON COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation has OPENED the Pittman Rd. bridge over Interstate 70 as of Wednesday, Nov. 28. This bridge, along with the Crysler Ave. and Phelps Rd. bridges over I-70, have been closed since late May 2018 for a total bridge replacement. The Pittman Road bridge has gone under a variety of construction. The original bridge was built in 1962, followed by a replacement in 1972. After 46 years of use, the bridge had reached the end of its usable life and has been fully replaced. The new Pittman Rd. provides better access for pedestrians and will be able to accommodate for a potential expansion of I-70 in the future.

The Crysler Ave. and Phelps Rd. bridges are currently on track to be completed by mid-December. All work is weather permitting.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
