Eastbound Ramps & Bridge Will Open at Missouri Route 161/Route J in Montgomery County

South Outer Road to Close

MACON – Missouri Route 161/Route J in Montgomery County has been closed as construction continues on the Interstate 70 interchange near Danville. Over the last week the eastbound ramps have been closed for reconstruction. The eastbound ramps, along with the bridge over I-70, will be opening Saturday, December 1st.

On Monday, December 3rd, the South Outer Road/Route J closure will take place. This work will take up to 2 weeks to complete.

Message boards will be in place notifying motorists of the upcoming outer road closure. While the south outer road is closed, motorists will be detoured to Callaway County Route YY (Exit 161) and to Missouri Route 19.

“We are glad we will have the bridge back open and be moving on to the final phase of this project,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E. “We have appreciated motorists’ patience during the extended time of the project. The delay has helped ensure the safest bridge possible was constructed,” he added.
