Lane Closures on I-70 Scheduled Next Week As Crews Near the Finish for the Phelps Bridge Project
KANSAS CITY – Missouri Department of Transportation has planned some lane closures on eastbound AND westbound I-70 near the Phelps Bridge Monday and Tuesday next week. These overnight lane closures are to remove bridge overhangs, the temporary scaffolding along the sides of the bridge that support crews as they work on the structure. This is one of the final steps toward opening the bridge. All work is weather dependent.
Closures include:
- Monday, Dec.3: Crews will CLOSE one right lane of westbound I-70 near the Phelps Road bridge at 6:30 p.m. They will CLOSE two right lanes of both eastbound and westbound I-70 by 8 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m.
- Tuesday, Dec. 4: Crews will CLOSE two lanes on westbound AND eastbound I-70 near the Phelps Road bridge from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
