MACON – Missouri Route 161/Route J in Montgomery County has been closed as construction continues on the Interstate 70 interchange near Danville, but opened up this last Saturday to traffic. The plan was then to close the South Outer Road next week to begin work there. However, due to colder temperatures and ground conditions, the work planned for the South Outer Road has been postponed. It has not been determined at this time when the closure will occur, but it will likely be in the spring. We will pass that information on once a date has been determined.
At this time, work will continue on finishing up signing, lighting, guardrail and other final pieces of the project. So please continue to use caution when traveling through the area and be aware of what is going on around you.
