Contract Awarded for Bridge Replacement in Boone County

The Missouri Route 124 bridge over Grindstone Creek will be replaced under a contract awarded Wednesday by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The project was awarded to Phillips Hardy, Inc., which submitted the low bid of $1,089,712.

The existing Grindstone Creek Bridge was built in 1932 and has reached a point where replacement is necessary. The new bridge will be built in 2019 on new alignment immediately to the south of the existing bridge. Route 124 will remain open during construction of the new bridge until work is necessary to tie the new alignment to the existing roadway. At that time, the road will be closed for a short period of time to complete the final grading and paving work.

When a start date is established, MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
