KANSAS CITY – Missouri Department of Transportation is scheduling multiple lane closures for Friday evening Jan. 4 through Sunday Jan. 6 on I-435 between Three Trails Crossing and State Line Road. Crews will begin CLOSING lanes of I-435 eastbound beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday Jan. 4 until only one lane remains open. Crews will also REDUCE I-435 westbound to two lanes beginning Friday evening. Westbound I-470 will also be REDUCED to one lane coming into the interchange. Crews will also CLOSE the access ramp from 104th Street to eastbound I-435.
This work is for a repair on the Blue River Bridge, one of the several bridges undergoing replacement or rehabilitation as part of the I-435 South Loop Link project. The bridge has several failed bearings in need of immediate replacement, although the bridge deck will undergo rehab work at a later date. Crews repaired failed bearings in the westbound lanes earlier last fall. This work is for the bearings under the eastbound lanes. All work is weather dependent.
Motorists should expect delays traveling through the area and plan ahead with alternate routes in mind. Review the work on MoDOT’s Traveler Information map at traveler.modot.org. For potential impacts to traffic, please review KC Scout cameras at http://www.kcscout.net/
The Missouri Department of Transportation urges all motorists to always wear safety belts, follow posted speed limits and be alert for slowed traffic, narrowed lanes or a reduced number of lanes during construction and maintenance work. And remember, every work zone is a NO PHONE ZONE.
