Closure planned for Interstate 229 ramps in St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Two ramps in downtown St. Joseph will be closed this week. Recent crashes have destroyed some of the protective barrels at the Edmond Street and Charles Street Interstate 229 ramps and they need to be replaced.

Crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation will close the off ramp from northbound I-229 to Edmond Street (Exit 6A) and the on ramp from Charles Street to southbound I-229 this Thursday, Jan. 10, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Each ramp may only be closed a few hours during this time frame, but as the exact length of the closures is unknown at this time, motorists are advised to use an alternate route. The project is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.

MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
