MACON – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to K.J. Unnerstall, of Washington, Missouri, for a slide repair project, located at the southeast corner of the intersection with the Interstate 70 south outer road near New Florence, in Montgomery County.
“We have been monitoring the area for some time and decided now is the best time to fix it,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E. “The current embankment will be removed, and new rock will be placed to hold the soil securely in place,” he added.
Traffic may be reduced to one lane while this work is completed. This project could begin as early as this spring.
“A more specific schedule will be shared after the contractor provides the plan for completing the work,” Maninga said.
