Upcoming Bridge Improvement Project on Route 17 in Texas County

Notice of Opportunity for Public Hearing

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to replace the Route 17 bridge over Big Creek in Texas County. The bridge is located approximately 12 miles south of Houston, Mo.

The project is expected to be let in March 2020. Construction could begin as early as June 2020. The existing truss bridge will be replaced on a new alignment, east of the existing structure. During construction, traffic will continue to use the existing bridge. There may be short intervals of time when traffic is reduced to one-lane, two-way configuration. Completion is anticipated by fall 2021, weather permitting.

Maps, plans, and other information prepared by MoDOT will be available for public inspection and copying at the MoDOT’s Willow Springs Regional Office, 3956 East Main St., Willow Springs, MO 65793.

Any person affected by this project may request that a public hearing be held in regard to the proposed improvements. Requests for a public hearing should be submitted in writing to District Engineer Mark Shelton at P.O. Box 160, Sikeston, MO 63801, by Feb. 21, 2019.
