KC Scout Server Issues Result in Frozen or Blank Boards Ahead of Evening Rush

LEE’S SUMMIT – KC Scout suffered a server failure today that directly impacts the message boards along Kansas City metro highways. Staff has shut off many of the boards but those that remain on will display incorrect travel times.

Currently the repair estimates could take up to an additional 48 hours. We advise users and the media to refer to www.kscout.net or download our free Scout Traffic APP from Apple Store or Android Play and review traffic incidents along their route before they leave.

“KC Scout offers some pretty comprehensive tools for motorists to scout their routes for traffic impacts, but the message boards are by far the most visible and widely used,” said Randy Johnson, KC Scout Traffic Center Manager. “We are working on a complete fix for this issue as quickly as possible because we take our commitment to the traveling public seriously.”

KC Scout is Kansas City's bi-state traffic management system, designed to lessen traffic jams by improving rush-hour speeds, increasing safety by decreasing the number of rush-hour accidents and improving emergency response to traffic situations by clearing incidents quickly and safely. Scout manages traffic on more than a thousand miles of continuous freeway across Kansas and Missouri.
