CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will make the following traffic changes as part of a new interchange improvement project at I-35 and Route 152 (Kansas Street) in Liberty, MO. All work is weather dependent.
- Crews will reduce northbound I-35 to one lane between Pleasant Valley Rd. and the Route 291 Interchange beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, March 15 and will continue through 5 p.m. Sunday, March 17 to reconstruct the inside shoulder.
- Crews will reduce southbound I-35 to one lane between the Route 291 Interchange and Pleasant Valley Rd. beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, until 5 a.m. Sunday, March 17, for inside shoulder work.
- Crews will begin working in the area prior to Friday, March 15, to set up traffic control signs and various other prep work.
The is all part of a project to replace the Route 152 Bridge over I-35, make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291, including adding wider lanes and additional turn lanes. The project will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor, and a multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
