Replacement of Route 124 Bridge to Begin

The replacement of the Missouri Route 124 bridge over Grindstone Creek in Boone County is scheduled to begin next week. Contractors working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will start tree removal and clearing work off the roadway on Monday, March 11. The work is not expected to impact traffic.

The new bridge, approximately one-half mile west of U.S. Route 63, will be built on new alignment immediately to the south of the existing bridge. Route 124 will remain open during construction of the new bridge until work is necessary to tie the new alignment to the existing roadway this summer. At that time, Route 124 will be closed for a short period of time to complete this final grading and paving work. Alternate routes will be available around the work area.

Residents living near the work zone will have access to the roadway throughout the length of the project. MoDOT appreciates the patience of travelers during the work.
