Resurfacing and Sidewalk Projects in Audrain and Pike Counties to Begin Late March

HANNIBAL   – Work is expected to begin later this month to resurface nearly 39 miles of U.S. Route 54 between Bassinger Corner (Route 54, 19, and J intersection) in Audrain County and Louisiana.  Included in the project is sidewalk and parking area upgrades through Vandalia in partnership with the City of Vandalia.  In addition, Routes F and W in Vandalia will also be resurfaced out to city limits.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the project to Magruder Paving for $9,897,643 in three separate projects to include:

  • U.S. Route 54 resurfacing from Missouri Route 19 north junction (Bassinger Corner) to 0.10 mile east of Route U near Curryville
  • U.S. Route 54 resurfacing from 0.10 mile east of Pike County Route U near Curryville to Dougherty Pike in Louisiana
  • U.S. Route 54 sidewalk upgrades (ADA) in Vandalia and Curryville, plus sidewalk upgrades along Route F and W in Vandalia

 

Work is scheduled to begin with pavement repairs near Bassinger Corner on U.S. 54 as early as March 18, weather permitting, with an expected completion date of November 1, 2019.  MoDOT will alert the public about updates on the projects through signs, news releases and social media.
