Southwest District – Drivers can expect one-lane traffic during daytime hours and occasional traffic delays when a project to resurface sections of Routes 83 and MM in Benton and Hickory counties and St. Clair County Route A begins the week of March 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
All routes will receive a new asphalt driving surface, new guardrail and rumble strips in areas and new pavement striping.
Here is the tentative look at the project beginning the week of March 18:
- St. Clair County Route A – from Route 52 near Appleton City, traveling east approximately 17 miles to Route 13 near Lowry City
- Missouri Route 83 – beginning at Route 54 in Hickory County west of Wheatland, moving north approximately 24 miles to Route 65 in Benton County south of Warsaw
- Missouri Route 83/Truman Lake Bridge – new guardrail installed at the bridge will require ‘round the clock one-lane traffic with temporary signals for up to one week. The guardrail work will begin after paving on Route 83 is complete. (a traffic alert will be sent out prior to beginning of work on the bridge.)
- Benton County Route MM – beginning at Route 65 south of Warsaw, traveling east approximately eight miles to the end of state maintenance
Crews will work Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Drivers are urged to use caution as they may experience a rough ride in areas until the resurfacing project is complete.
Drivers also can expect flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.
Signs and message boards will alert drivers to the work zone.
Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.
