U.S. Route 63 in Schuyler County Will Receive Bridge Replacement at North Fork Middle Fabius River

MACON – The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission recently awarded a contract to Phillips Hardy, Inc. , of Columbia, Missouri, for a bridge replacement on U.S. Route 63 in Schuyler County.  The project will be at North Fork Middle Fabius River, located 1.6 miles north of U.S. Route 136 near Lancaster. The total cost of the project is approximately $987,830.

“This bridge is 72 years old and has deteriorated significantly over the years,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford, P.E. “For the safety of the many motorists that use this bridge, the time to replace it has arrived,” she added.

The bridge will be closed approximately 45 days while replacement work is completed. The work could begin as early as this spring and should be completed by next fall. The new bridge will be approximately 10 feet wider than the existing one.

“An informational public meeting will be held for this project, and we will send out more specific information once the date is set,” Crawford said.
