Crews Will CLOSE Ramp from Eastbound I-70 to Southbound I-435 Overnight on March 20

JACKSON COUNTY – MoDOT Kansas City will be CLOSING the eastbound I-70 ramp to southbound I-435 beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, until approximately 5 a.m. the following morning. This ramp closure is for pavement striping and will cause traffic impacts as this ramp is part of the detour in place for motorists going westbound I-70 towards southbound I-435. Motorists will NOT have access to this ramp during this time and must find alternate routes. The suggested alternate route will be signed and will direct traffic to northbound I-435 and to then turn around at 23rd Street. All work is weather permitting.

This project will have significant impacts on traffic for two full construction seasons. It will replace the bridges within the interchange and the new configuration will be a partial turbine design. This provides the opportunity to make additional safety improvements that include the new bridges, removal of left exits, improvements to the loop ramp configuration, and congestion relief. For more information about this project, visit our website. All work is weather permitting. Traffic MUST follow the signed detours or find an alternate route. Additionally, motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and leave early. For potential impacts to traffic, please review KC Scout cameras at http://www.kcscout.net or consult our real-time traffic partner, WAZE.

Please remember that all work zones are NO PHONE zones. Buckle up. Phone down. Arrive Alive. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
