CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will make the following traffic changes as part of a new interchange improvement project at I-35 and Route 152 (Kansas Street) in Liberty, MO. The closures will have an impact to traffic in the area from March 21-24. All work is weather dependent.
Crews will close the center ramp lane from Route 152 to northbound I-35 and the center ramp lane from Route 152 to southbound I-35 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21 until 5 a.m. Friday, March 22 for ramp shoulder work.
Crews will close the outside left turns lanes on eastbound and westbound Route 152 beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday, March 23 and continue through 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24 for concrete work on shoulders.
Crews will close various lanes of northbound and southbound I-35 between Pleasant Valley Rd. and Route 291 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 and continuing through 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24 for installation of temporary barriers/attenuators.
The is all part of a project to replace the Route 152 Bridge over I-35, make improvements to Kansas Street and Route 291, including adding wider lanes and additional turn lanes. The project will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor, and a multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
