The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to replace five bridges in New Madrid County. Three bridges are located on Route 162 between Gideon and Portageville, Missouri. Two bridges are located on Route H near Matthews, Missouri. These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
Route 162 Bridges
The three bridges on Route 162 between Gideon and Portageville, Missouri are located over Drainage Ditches 1, 251 and 62.
The projects will be let in November 2021, with construction beginning as early as February 2022. One bridge will be constructed at a time, and contractors will complete the replacement in one location before proceeding to the next.
As work is underway, the roadway will be closed in the vicinity of each bridge. A signed detour will be in place.
Completion is anticipated by December 2022.
Route H Bridges
The two bridges on Route H at Matthews, Missouri are located over Ash Slough Ditch and a drainage ditch.
The project will be let in November 2021, with construction beginning as early as January 2022. One bridge will be constructed at a time, and contractors will complete the replacement in one location before proceeding to the next.
