What is the current situation?

In 2025, The Missouri Department of Transporation will address the aging pavement, guardrail, and signing starting on Route 30. MoDOT will replace two bridges along the corridor of the project. There will be ADA upgrades to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act transition plan that will help pedestrian navigate through the area. As a part of the project, the department will be resurfacing the roadway as they make updates to the guardrail and signs along the corridor. MoDOT will replace two box culverts. There is a need to replace signage throughout this stretch of road due to the reflectivity. The average life span of reflectivity for signage is approximately 10-12 years.

Where will the project take place?

The bridge over Pierce Creek and the bridge near the Meramec River in Jefferson County will be replaced. The entire project is approximately 32 miles and will take place on Route 30 in Franklin County from the Interstate 44 North Outer Road to Route PP.

What are the impacts from the project?

Daytime work will include lane closures and traffic shifts. MoDOT expects resurfacing work to take place during daytime and nightime hours. Flaggers will help direct traffic through the work zone while it is active. MoDOT will be constructing temporary bypasses along the roadway to minize detour impacts. Details of the construction schedule will be posted and sent out closer to the start date. Electronic message boards will have updated closures and impacts posted if there are major impacts to traffic during the project.

Will MoDOT need to purchase right-of-way?

MoDOT will need to purchase some property, permanent and temporary easements in order to build the additional sidewalks and provide ADA improvements. A right of way representative will contact affected landowners to begin the acquisition process.

What is the total cost of the project?

The total cost of the project is estimated at $32 million.
