The driving surface of the U.S. Route 65 bridge over Route 6 is in need of a new wearing surface. A project to complete a latex overlay is planned for the 2022 construction season.
Project Progress
The Missouri Department of Transportation planned and designed a latex overlay to update the wearing surface of the bridge.
The project was part of the October 2021 letting when contractors submitted competitive bids on the project. The project was let in combination with five other bridge projects. The contractor was awarded a $4,625,301.91 contract to complete all six bridge projects during the November 2021 meeting of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
The contractor began work Oct. 10, 2022. By contract, all work must be complete on or before Dec. 1, 2022.
Throughout the project, traffic on U.S. Route 65 will be narrowed to one lane around-the-clock with temporary traffic signals in place to guide motorists through the work zone. Some lane closures on Route 6 and ramp closures at the interchange of Route 6 and U.S. Route 65 may be necessary to safely complete the project.
By contract, all work on this bridge project must be complete on or before Dec. 1, 2022. Due to circumstances on other bridges in this project bundle, the completion date for this bridge has been extended.
The bridge was completed, and two-way traffic was restored on Jan. 27, 2023.
