MoDOT contracted Benesch to design the new bridges for the Atchison County Route F Rock Creek Bridge, the Holt County Route T Mill Creek Bridge, and the Holt County U.S. Route 59 bridge over Interstate 29.

Public Meeting

MoDOT will offer three opportunities to receive community feedback regarding the intersection improvement project.

  1. An in-person public meeting will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at Craig Elementary School located at 402 N. Ward St., Craig, MO 64437. This will be an open house style meeting and community members are welcome to drop by anytime between 4:30 - 6 p.m. to speak with project experts and provide feedback. No formal presentation will be made. 
  2. View the information on this webpage and utilize the form at the bottom of the page to submit your comments and/or sign up for project-specific updates. Comments must be submitted by Monday, May 20, 2024.

Contract Letting

Contractors may submit competitive bids during MoDOT's scheduled lettings. This project is scheduled to be a part of the August 2024 letting. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will consider all submitted bids at its scheduled monthly meeting in September 2024. If the lowest submitted bid meets all necessary criteria, the MHTC may award contracts at that time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will MoDOT close the road during construction?

Yes, Atchison County Route F and Holt County Route T, and U.S. Route 59 will be closed during construction. 

What is the planned detour?

A signed detour will be in place during the construction on the Holt County Route 59 Bridge over I-29. The detour will be shared once it is determined.  Atchison County Route F and Holt County Route T will be closed at the bridges during its construction.

Will MoDOT need to acquire any right of way?

No, MoDOT did not need to acquire any temporary or permanent right of way for the Little Tarkio Creek Bridge or the Bear Creek Bridge. MoDOT did acquire a temporary easement for the relocation of a driveway near the Pike Creek Drainage Ditch Bridge.
