Interstate 270 and Route H Corridor Upgrades in St. Louis and St. Louis City Counties

When will construction begin?

Construction will begin at the end of 2022.  

What will be the impact to traffic?

During construction, The eastbound entrance and exit ramps from Riverview to I-270 were closed in Feb. 2023 for reconstruction.   Once complete, the westbound ramps will be closed and reconstructed.  The eastbound ramps are complete, and construction is in progress on the westbound side.  

Currently, the westbound I-270 exit to Riverview and the entrance ramp from Riverview to westbound I-270 are closed. The detour for these ramps is to use the I-270 exit at Lilac to Dunn Rd. to Riverview. 

What is expected after construction?

The Riverview Drive interchange will be reconstructed to six lanes of traffic as same as the lanes of traffic proposed in the Mississippi River Bridge project. The interchange and the new bridge will be striped for four lanes initially but will eventually be constructed to six lanes of traffic when I-270, east and west of Riverview Drive, are widened to six traffic lanes.

Who is the contractor for the project?

The project has been awarded to Walsh.
