Cole County - U.S. Route 54/Hickory Hill/Penny Hollow Intersection Improvements

Project Details:

This project added J-Turns along U.S Route 54 from east of Clark Fork Road to Penny Hollow Road along with accelerator and deceleration lanes to United Road, Clark Fork Road, and westbound Penny Hollow Road.



Cost: 

The contract for the project totals
$2,444,011.13.

This contract was awarded to Capital Paving & Construction LLC.  





Work Taking Place

The project primarily includes the installation of J-Turn intersections
 at the Penny Hollow and Hickory Hill intersections on U.S. Route 54.

Why is This Work Taking Place

Due to crash frequency and severity, the intersections at Hickory Hill and Penny Hollow were identified as the next highest priority following the initial round of improvements which is currently being constructed in Miller County. 




Traffic Impact: 

For the duration of the project, during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, crews closed one lane of U.S. Route 54 at the work zone. Flaggers directed motorists through the work zone.

United Road Access Closure
The contractor closed the United Road Access in June to install a new drainage pipe. This work was performed between U.S. Highway 54 and Penny Hollow Road, near “Trailer Trendz.” The traveling public was asked to use the Penny Hollow Road to the West and United Road to the East.
