MoDOT's Planning and Design teams designed a project to rehabilitate the driving surface of the both the eastbound and westbound bridges.
The project to rehabilitate the decks of the eastbound and westbound bridges over Blackwell Creek on Livingston County U.S. Route 36 was bundled with four other bridge rehabilitation projects in Caldwell, Carroll, Grundy & Livingston counties. The project for these six bridges was part of the October 2021 letting where contractors submitted competitive bids on the project bundle. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $4,626,301.91 project to Capital Paving & Construction, Inc. at their November 2021 meeting. At that time they gave the contractor a Jan. 3, 2022 Notice to Proceed. This is the earliest date the contractor could begin work.
The contractor has notified MoDOT they intend to rehabilitate these twin bridges during the 2023 construction season.
During construction, one lane of U.S. Route 36 will remain open, each direction. By contract, once construction begins, the contractor has 96 calendar days to complete the project.
